(More customer reviews)My friend has the Yakima canoe straps, which are roughly double the price of the Malone straps and there is a reason. In general, the Malone straps are all around cheaper. The metal cams are constructed of lighter and thinner material (cast aluminum?) while the webbing is also very light weight. In addition, the buckle opening is very narrow so feeding the webbing into them is a bit difficult. Especially with cold fingers! I've only used the straps twice, but I will definitely find a set of Yakima straps or something comparable. If I could have held the Malone straps box at a physical store I definitely would not have purchased these straps. That said, these would make excellent back-up straps in case your higher quality straps broke.
